Notes: According to Storm Data, one house was struck on Happy Hollow Road four miles south of Hawesville. Noted discrepancies: NCDC and Storm Data give no F-scale rating for this tornado. Path width: September 3, 1970 Abstract Tornadoes and waterspouts have long fascinated humankind through their presence in myths and popular beliefs and originally were believed to have supernatural causes. Noted discrepancies: Not listed at NCDC. Time: 7:15pm EF-scale: EF0 Storm Data mentions that this tornado crossed into Kentucky from Perry Countyhitting Irvington, two miles east northeast of Cloverport, and two and a half miles south of Garrett. Notes: Near Patterson Lane and McAfee Lane between McAfee and Ebenezer a well-built barn had two walls blown out and its roof blown one-half mile downstream. The tornado destroyed an old barn on Chester Hahn Road but then weakened to an EF0 of 80 mph and ended with a few snapped trees before Dugan Lane. One barn was destroyed, and others were damaged. Noted discrepancies: SPC and NCDC give a path length of 1 mile, Grazulis and Storm Data give 2 miles. The fire station was heavily damaged, with the collapse of rigid frames. The tornado then moved eastward into Huntsville where a few homes were damaged and trees were snapped along Huntsville-Quality Road. The tornado then hit a large farm at 3604 Schley Road destroying the second story of the home. This tornado is very oddly listed at the NCDC website. Path width: The tornado touchdown was very brief and lifted at the intersection of Cedar Sink Road and Brownsville Road just inside the southwestern border of Mammoth Cave National Park. June 6, 1966 Two other people died in Garrard County near Cartersville. Counties: Adair Deaths: Winds estimated at 175mph near Glasgow damaged or destroyed 35 mobile homes and 25 barns. June 9, 2010 Time: 1:05pm June 2, 1990 Several trees were knocked down or snapped. Two large barns, a silo, and a stable were also destroyed on the same property. Notes: This tornado touched down near Cecilia, blowing the roof off a barn, but only producing shingle damage on nearby residences. EF-scale: EF1 It was noted in the local press that the tornado never left the ground along its 15 mile path, and made a "clean sweep" of the earth. Major tornado disasters during the spring and summer of 1860 resurfaced previous concerns about tornadoes, and by 1862 the Smithsonian distributed circulars alerting people to their dangers. Storm Data begins this tornado between Huffman and Tarry in Perry County and lifts it a few miles northeast of Lexington in Scott County. February 28, 2011 F-scale: F0 Grazulis lists an F2 tornado in Woodford County with eight injuries, a path length of one mile, and a path width of 200 yards on May 18, 1995 at 6:35am. Noted discrepancies: SPC/NCDC lat/lon is actually in Robertson County. Time: 12:50am EST to 12:52am EST Notes: This tornado touched down near Flippin and inflicted EF-1 damage on trees between Flippin and Mud Lick. Time: 12:40am The tornado sounded like "a dozen freight trains crossing a trestle." Path length: Time: 6:01pm Counties: Breckinridge The tornado touched down two separate times. Injuries: Path width: The funnel devastated that town and crossed the Ohio River into Harrison County, Indiana. They escaped without injury, though they were trapped in rubble for 30 minutes. 85 mph winds. Farther east on Electron Drive several corporations and warehouses had structural damage to roofs and the sides of buildings. Path length: 15.6 miles Time: afternoon Injuries: Injuries: This is consistent with EF-2 damage and 120 mph wind. Homes were unroofed. Path length: Several small twigs were driven through the siding of the home. Counties: Washington KY Path width: 150 yards F-scale: F0 The last damage report in Jefferson County was on Collins Lane where homes and commercial buildings were damaged, and roofs were removed from barns. The tornado rapidly increased in intensity as it moved to the east, directly striking the Milton volunteer fire station number 2. Injuries: EF-Scale:EF1 Noted discrepancies: SPC gives a path width of 10 yards and a path length of 1/10 of a mileNCDC gives nothing for either. Noted discrepancies: Grazulis ends this tornado just inside the Franklin County line, but SPC and NCDC take it all the way to Frankfort. Counties: Dubois The only damage to the home, however, was minor roof damage from a branch falling on it. As the tornado crossed Cemetery Road it damaged a home. Notes: Storm Data says this tornado struck near Lewisport. Path length: 2.4 miles Notes: The tornado touched down on a ridge along Gillespie Pike east of Lancaster. April 15, 1994 F-scale: EF1 Grazulis Narrative: A house and a garage were destroyed at New Washington. Deaths: Deaths: Notes: Numerous pine and cedar trees were uprooted or snapped and a few outbuildings were damaged. Notes: This tornado touched down in Lexington on Patterson Street and skipped to the east-southeast at 35mph, lifting near New Circle Road south of Winchester Road. Time: 11:39pm EDT Grazulis narrative: Several barns were destroyed or unroofed near Taylorsville. Counties: Washington KY This tornado was probably spawned from the same thunderstorm that produced the earlier tornado in southwest Louisville (see previous entry). The woman was badly cut by glass, and her husband was caught between fireplace bricks and a collapsed wall. Counties: Breckinridge, Meade, Harrison IN This instrument may be read in a dug-out or a cellar as well as in a house. Counties: Russell Injuries: 3 Also hard to believe the NWS would give it an F3 rating and Grazulis would only give it an F1 or less. Notes: Storm Data says this tornado touched down on Liberty Church Road in Auburn. Minor damage to buildings occurred just, on the western outskirts of Cloverport, then the tornado lifted over, the town, touching down again less than a mile east of the, community, where numerous hardwood trees were observed to be, uprooted from aerial photos. In Edmonson County, barns and a hotel were torn apart near Mammoth Cave National Park, along with the home of a cave tour guide. The tornado touched down at approximately 3:38 PMEST, and the initial damage included snapped and twisted trees just west of Hwy 421. June 22, 2011 Two homes were unroofed and torn apart, injuring two people inside one of them. Path length: 5 miles October 6, 2014 Path width: Path width: 150 yards The tornado continued on for another mile, causing occasional tree damageand dropping debris before lifting near the east end of Groce Road, where it peeled roofing material from a metal out building. Damage was widespread along Dresden and Longfield Avenues, with damage on Longfield reported at the addresses of 812, 713, 716, and at 715 the house was "twisted." As it, reached 961 east of Alvaton in Warren County, it spawned an EF1, tornado with winds estimated at 95 mph destroying a barn and tool. At 1598 Carter Brothers Roada riding lawn mower was thrown about 50 yards and thegarbage can flew 150 yards. April 27, 2011 Counties: Henry A pillar of flame shot skyward when the vortex of the twister struck the Kelley residence."
